Forcare’s debut at HIMSS 2010: “Health Information Exchanges made easy”

European software developer Forcare will make its debut at HIMSS 2010 by showing a fully standardized software solution suite for health information exchanges (HIEs). HIEs help clinical users gain access to all available clinical information for a patient, delivering better care, achieving efficiency gains and saving costs.
Since early 2006, Forcare has built a leading position in interoperability solutions in Europe, based on the international IHE XDS (Cross Enterprise Document Sharing) standard.

Forcare provides a complete range of software products to realize open, standardized HIE infrastructures, including registries, repositories, gateways and clinical browsers. The company will launch two additional HIE enablers at HIMSS 2010 to simplify HIE development: forShare and Forcare’s IHE XDS toolkit.

According to Forcare’s CEO Harm-Jan Wessels, “forShare is basically ‘XDS in a box’. ForShare is provided as an appliance, ready for deployment in a hospital network. The product acts as a standardized XDS gateway and can be easily configured to integrate to existing clinical applications. As such, the key benefits of an HIE are now quick to reach, hence: HIE’s made easy. “

Andries Hamster, Chief Marketing Officer, explains the Forcare XDS toolkit: “Many customers have in-house developed clinical applications that would benefit from standardized clinical information sharing. Our XDS toolkit accelerates building IHE XDS compliance into those applications. The XDS Toolkit is based on Forcare’s state-of-the-art IHE XDS libraries and benefits from broad customer exposure and IHE compliance testing”.

Forcare’s solutions are brought to market by a network of partners. The company is looking to expand its partner network in the North-American markets to provide HIE solutions meeting the US government sponsored initiatives.
